These adaptations began in the classroom. As a teacher, I wanted Shakespeare scripts that my pupils could actually perform — without an enormous price tag or hours of additional cutting, rewriting and adapting.
So I started making my own.
Drawing on my experience teaching English and SEN, alongside my MA in Shakespeare and Creativity, these plays have been abridged and adapted into approximately 40–60 minute performances, with practical stage directions and flexibility for school casts.
The aim isn’t to simplify Shakespeare out of Shakespeare. It’s to make his plays accessible, playable and enjoyable — for teachers who don’t have hours to adapt a script themselves, and for young people who might not yet believe Shakespeare is for them.
